In a stunning admission on Tuesday, Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell revealed that the much-hyped bipartisan “deal” on the supplemental security and border security bill is as useless as a screen door on a submarine. McConnell dropped this bombshell during a press conference, where he faced the music from House Republicans and conservative members of Congress who were not thrilled with this so-called deal.

“It’s crystal clear to us that this bill is as good as dead on arrival,” McConnell lamented, as he tried to spin this colossal failure. “It seems like we have about as much chance of making this law as I do of growing a third arm,” he added, desperately trying to save face.
When asked if this embarrassing flop indicated that he was out of touch with the GOP conference, McConnell attempted to deflect blame onto the Democrats, reminding everyone that it was actually the Republicans who wanted to tackle the border issue in the first place. “We started it! It’s all their fault for not playing nice with us,” McConnell whined, trying to shift the blame like a petulant child.
McConnell also had the audacity to shower praise on Senator James Lankford for his negotiating skills and even boasted about the National Border Patrol Council’s endorsement of the bill, as if that means anything now that the whole thing is a lost cause.
Despite the bill being deader than a doornail in the House, McConnell still tried to save face by saying the Senate should push through the rest of the supplemental security funding because “it’s important.” But let’s be real here, with the Republicans in the minority, McConnell knows it’s all up to Senator Schumer to figure out how to salvage this dumpster fire of a bill.
In typical McConnell fashion, he tried to spin this disaster as best he could, but it’s clear that this so-called “deal” is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
