A survey conducted by a prominent political consultancy revealed that most Republican primary voters support Donald Trump's bid to serve as the country's president even if he is ultimately convicted of a crime. Notably, only 20 percent of the respondents believe that he should be prevented from holding the office again if he is found guilty.
The results of the poll revealed that only 12 percent of primary voters are worried about the documents related to the investigation of Donald Trump being a national security issue. On the other hand, 76 percent of respondents believe that the charges against him were politically motivated. This shows that there is a significant political influence in the investigation.
Most of the voters, who are registered Republican primary voters, stated that they would not change their views about the former president even if he was indicted. On the other hand, 14% of the respondents claimed that their opinion would improve, while only 7% indicated that their outlook would change. The remaining 18 percent stated that their verdict would depend on the information that they had available.
The survey also revealed that two-thirds of the likely Republican primary voters would like Trump to refrain from talking about the investigations that are currently focused on him. About 39 percent of the respondents said they would like Trump to address these issues.
If the Republican primary were held today, Donald Trump would lead the field with 61 percent of the vote, followed by Ron DeSantis of Florida with 23 percent.
What is truly shocking about Trump's indictment is that he is the first former president in US history to be charged with a federal crime. Despite this, he is still expected to appear at a courthouse in Miami today for his arraignment. On Saturday, he said that he would continue running for office even if he was found guilty.

Trump's campaign announced on Sunday that the president would be holding his first major fundraiser next week. The event, which will be held at the Trump National golf club in New Jersey, is expected to raise around $2 million. The campaign is also planning on holding several similar events in the coming weeks to boost their financial operations.
Despite his various controversies, Trump is still confident that he can win the 2020 presidential election. According to a recent poll, the Republican party is still in a strong position to maintain its majority in the House of Representatives. This shows that the president is still able to influence the political landscape.
