A slap in the face to gun rights enthusiasts! The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, known for its liberal leanings, has given California the green light to enforce a law that requires law-abiding citizens to go through background checks every time they want to purchase ammunition for their firearms.
This isn’t just any old law either. This one goes against the grain of the Second Amendment and the long-standing tradition of responsible gun ownership in our nation. U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez rightly saw this law for what it is: a direct attack on our constitutional rights. But leave it to the Democratic-led Golden State to rush in and ask the appeals court to hit the pause button on Judge Benitez’s decision. And of course, they got their way. What’s new?

But let’s break it down a bit further, shall we? The 9th Circuit’s decision came from Judges Richard Clifton and Holly Thomas, both Democratic appointees. Surprise, surprise! The lone voice of reason in all of this was U.S. Circuit Judge Consuelo Callahan, an appointee of the great George W. Bush. She saw right through the state’s shenanigans and rightly pointed out that they didn’t have a leg to stand on.
And if you thought the drama ended there, think again! State Attorney General Rob Bonta had the audacity to condemn Judge Benitez’s decision and threaten the rights of Californians. But let’s not forget about good ol’ Gavin Newsom, who pointed fingers at Judge Benitez and just couldn’t resist turning this into a political jab. Real classy, Gov.
Now, let’s talk about the real people impacted by this nonsense. California gun owners already have it tough with the hoops they have to jump through to exercise their rights. And now, thanks to Judge Benitez’s ruling causing a stir, firearms and ammunition distributors in Fresno are seeing a surge in sales. It’s clear that the people are speaking out against this infringement on their rights.
The fight isn’t over, though. The 9th Circuit still has a chance to make things right. We’ll just have to wait and see if they choose common sense over politics. But until then, this biased law is causing nothing but trouble for law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights. And for what? All in the name of so-called “safety” laws that do nothing but hurt the people they’re supposed to protect.
