Texas Governor Greg Abbott has once again taken the lead in tackling the record influx of illegal aliens pouring over the southern border. In an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Abbott revealed that state law enforcement will now have the authority to apprehend and detain illegal immigrants—an announcement that is sure to ruffle some feathers in the Biden Administration.
The clash between Texas and the Biden Administration over immigration enforcement has been an ongoing drama, with the feds suing the Lone Star State multiple times over its efforts to stem the flow of migrants. Despite federal pushback, Texas has been unapologetic in its determination to secure its borders, even going so far as to install water and land barriers.

However, Texas recently faced a setback when an appeals court ruled that the state must remove its water barriers in the Rio Grande. This ruling dealt a blow to the state’s efforts to control the influx of illegal immigrants, despite a previous ruling permitting the barriers to remain in place while the case was under appeal.
Despite the setback, Governor Abbott is not backing down. In fact, during his recent appearance on Fox News, Abbott announced that he will be implementing new border control measures with immediate effect.
The governor didn’t mince words when he described the severity of the situation, pointing the finger directly at President Biden for attracting illegal immigrants with his lax policies. According to Abbott, Texas’ proactive measures have already shifted the illegal entry points away from the state, forcing the cartels to find new routes. However, he emphasized that Texas must continue to take decisive actions to prevent illegal entry.
In response to the crisis, Abbott intends to sign a new law that will criminalize illegal border crossings and empower every peace officer in Texas to arrest those attempting to enter the state unlawfully.
