America Faces New Threats: What’s at Stake?

In the grand contest of which religion poses a greater threat, it seems the past couple of weeks in the United States have provided quite a show. Radical Islam has, unfortunately, been busy checking off boxes on a quite alarming list. Just recently, a lone gunman opened fire in a bar down in Orlando, Florida, causing a tragic loss of life and multiple injuries. Meanwhile, in New York City, a Molotov cocktail was hurled at innocent civilians, followed by nail bombs and shrapnel IEDs–clearly not your standard party favors.

Elsewhere, a potential suspect attempted to bomb a Southwest flight from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale, creating a terrifying ordeal for passengers and crew. If that wasn’t enough, another IED was thrown at a protest in New York City, with a shout that has become all too familiar in such circumstances. Landing in Atlanta became more of an adventure than expected after a bomb threat forced a plane to prematurely hit the tarmac. Such threats aren’t rare, it seems, with an unwelcome scare delivered at Kansas City airport as well.

One might ponder why some folks on the left choose to defend radical Islam, even as threats against communities across the country skyrocket. Perhaps it’s a puzzle that requires some extra pieces. Christianity, in stark contrast, often ends up shouldering the blame when anything goes awry. It’s almost like playing a game of hot potato, where the potato is always handed to Christianity while radical Islam gets a hall pass.

This peculiar bias is funny if it weren’t so serious. While they rally in defense of one religion, another is persistently vilified whether or not they’ve got anything to do with the situation at hand. It’s a funny world indeed when one religion is shielded fiercely even amid destruction, while the other can’t seem to catch a break.

As the curtain closes on this episode of reality, one can’t help but question the thought process behind these acts of defense and derision. Amidst bomb threats and blatant violence, the media and those with progressive views could perhaps take a moment to reassess their judgment criteria. After all, if anyone should focus on spreading peace and tolerance, it’s those who claim to champion these very ideals.
