Three innocent Americans are dead because our broken immigration system failed them. On August 12, a semi-truck driver named Harjinder Singh made an illegal U-turn on Florida’s Turnpike and killed three people in a horrific crash.
Singh was here illegally after sneaking across our southern border in 2018. He somehow got a commercial driver’s license in California and was driving an 80,000-pound death machine on our highways. This should never have happened.
The victims were a 30-year-old man from Florida City, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach, and a 54-year-old man from Miami. They were just driving down the road when Singh’s illegal U-turn blocked all lanes and their minivan crashed into his trailer. Two died at the scene and one died at the hospital.
After killing three people, Singh ran like a coward back to California. He thought he could hide from justice, but Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins is flying to California personally to bring this killer back. That’s what real leadership looks like.
California has a lot of explaining to do about how they gave a commercial license to an illegal immigrant. Their sanctuary state policies are literally killing Americans on our roads. How many more people have to die before we secure our border?
The American Trucking Association is asking hard questions about how Singh got his license. They want to know why California is fast-tracking licenses for people who shouldn’t even be in our country. Every state needs to audit their licensing immediately.
Singh now faces three counts of vehicular homicide and immigration charges. Justice is coming, but it won’t bring back those three Americans who died because we refuse to enforce our laws.
This tragedy shows exactly why we need President Trump’s policies on border security and English proficiency for truck drivers. Americans deserve safe highways, not roads filled with illegal immigrants driving trucks they’re not qualified to handle.
