A dangerous trend is spreading across America that threatens our constitutional way of life. Islamic groups are buying up large plots of land to create separate communities that operate under their own rules. This isn’t just about religious freedom anymore. It’s about preserving American values and preventing the mistakes Europe made with parallel societies.
The East Plano Islamic Center in Texas just bought over 400 acres to build what they call EPIC City. This massive development will house more than 1,000 families in a community built around Islamic law and customs. They’re planning their own schools, shops, and governance systems. Governor Greg Abbott rightfully called this America’s first potential Shariah city.
These aren’t just neighborhoods where Muslims happen to live together. These are intentionally segregated communities designed to operate outside American legal and cultural norms. The East Plano project operates as a non-profit where proceeds support the Islamic Center itself. This gives religious leaders direct control over housing, education, and daily life in ways that bypass local government authority.
Europe already learned this lesson the hard way with Islamic enclaves that became no-go zones for police and regular citizens. Countries like France, Germany, and Sweden now struggle with parallel societies that reject Western values and democratic governance. We’re seeing the same playbook used here in America with groups buying land to create isolated Islamic communities.
The fundamental problem is that Islamic governance systems historically reject the separation of church and state that makes religious freedom possible. When religious law becomes civil law, constitutional protections disappear for everyone who doesn’t follow that faith. Thomas Jefferson understood this when he wrote that government should regulate actions, not beliefs.
The numbers show why this matters now more than ever. America’s Muslim population has grown to over 3 million people and continues expanding rapidly. States like Illinois, New York, and New Jersey already have Muslim populations above 3 percent. Major cities like New York, Houston, and Philadelphia have large concentrated Muslim populations that could support more separate communities.
Texas Governor Abbott and other conservative leaders must take action before these developments spread nationwide. State governments have the right and duty to ensure all communities operate under American law and constitutional principles. We cannot allow religious groups to create separate legal systems that undermine local authority and democratic governance.
American patriots didn’t fight and die for our freedoms just to watch them get surrendered through misguided tolerance. Every community in America must operate under our Constitution and respect our democratic values. We must learn from Europe’s mistakes and stop Islamic enclaves before they take root and threaten the liberty our founders established.
