A group of overzealous and heavily armed ATF and IRS agents raided a Montana gun store called Highwood Creek Outfitters, destroying the privacy of gun owners and taking away the background check forms for firearms purchases. The raid was conducted just before the business opened, and 20 heavily armed agents stormed into the shop, showing the level of intimidation that the current administration is willing to stoop to.

The owner of Highwood Creek Outfitters, Tom Van Hoose, expressed his frustration, stating that the federal law enforcement agencies have been investigating his business for over two years, without any indication as to the reason why. Van Hoose also stated that the margins in the gun business are not nearly as high as the feds seem to believe.
I met with Tom Vanhoose this morning after 20 armed IRS agents raided his store in Great Falls earlier this week.
Tom informed me that these agents confiscated all the 4473 forms, none of which contain any financial information; instead, the IRS now has access to these forms… pic.twitter.com/HPFEgZedKI— Matt Rosendale (@RepRosendale) June 16, 2023
Van Hoose believes that his business was targeted for political reasons, as the current administration seems to be dead set on getting guns out of the hands of average Americans. This raid is just another part of the government’s plan to regulate firearms and intimidate gun owners.
Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) visited the shop and was shocked to learn that the IRS took away all the 4473 forms, which contain sensitive and personal details about all customers who purchased firearms from the outfit. He demanded answers from the IRS and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, emphasizing that the background check forms don’t contain any financial information. There’s no reason why the IRS would need these forms.
This Soviet-style intimidation raid conducted by the government against innocent law-abiding citizens is outrageous and an egregious breach of privacy for Montana’s gun owners. It’s high time this administration stopped harassing the American people and abandoned their wide-scale government overreach and regulation.
