Army Recruitment Plummets as Gen Z Shuns Service!

The Army is in hot water, folks! According to the UK’s Daily Mail, they’re looking at a measly 50,000 new recruits for 2023, a whopping 15,000 short of their 65,000 target. But the bad news doesn’t stop there – the Navy and Air Force are facing their own enrollment disasters, expecting to miss their goals by 10,000 and 10 percent, respectively.

What’s causing this disaster, you ask? Well, it seems Generation Z is just not that into the military. Last year, only 9 percent of young Americans said they’d even think about joining up – a dramatic 13 percentage point drop from pre-pandemic levels! The Department of Defense blamed it on Gen Z’s lack of trust in institutions and their rejection of traditional life and career paths.

And if you thought things couldn’t get any worse, think again. It turns out TikTok is behind the downfall of recruitment! Yeah, you heard that right. Apparently, there’s a whole load of Gen Z service members flooding the app with videos complaining about life in the military. They’re moaning about the lack of sleep, the terrible food, and the disrespectful leadership. It’s being called a “TikTok mutiny,” and it’s not doing the military any favors.

Conservative writer Rich Lowry is blaming the military’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives for making things even worse. He says the $115 million the military requested for DEI funding in 2023 is just making the situation “dangerously unprepared.” Lowry’s got a point – is worrying about microaggressions really the best use of military resources?

Well, it seems like the tough, no-nonsense military of old is gone. Now it’s all about feeling circles, pronouns, and making sure everyone’s feelings are as safe as can be.
