Just when it looked like Major League Baseball couldn’t get any more politically correct, several players decided to throw a curveball by debuting Trump-themed celebrations during the weekend games. Who would have guessed that America’s pastime could also double as a political statement? Apparently, a few bold athletes got tired of the bland celebrations and decided to bring a little MAGA spirit to the diamond.
In a display of defiance that would make any red-blooded American proud, the St. Louis Cardinals dugout showed their support for the former president by placing their hands over their right ears while making a fist with the left. This seemingly echoed the inspirational moment from a recent Pennsylvania rally where Trump raised his fist and rallied the crowd to “fight, fight, fight!” Why settle for a generic home run celebration when you can give a nod to being unapologetically American?

Cardinals outfielder Alec Burelson got in on the action as he made his triumphant trot after smashing his 18th home run of the season. The MLB may just need to update its unwritten rules to include “political fervor encouraged” if this keeps up.

The Tampa Bay Rays joined the ranks of the Trump fandom when infielder Taylor Walls pumped his fist in the air after hitting a double, chanting the same triumphant “fight, fight, fight!” No one could argue that sports should remain apolitical when it’s clear that some players are ready to stand firm beside the former president, turning the field into a bit of a battleground for ideas.
Beyond baseball diamonds, the outpouring of support from the sports world continues to grow. Golf legend Tiger Woods referenced the recent assassination attempt on Trump as he prepared to tee off. He expressed his sleepless night thanks to the shocking news, proving that the bond among athletes can transcend the field, tee, or octagon. UFC President Dana White didn’t hold back either, labeling Trump as an “American badass,” calling out those who think they are tough but fail to stand up when it matters.
With all these throwbacks to Trump in sporting events, it leaves fans wondering what the next big appearance at a UFC event might look like. After all, with the upcoming UFC 306 in Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine the former president won’t make an appearance alongside his loyal supporters. For now, it’s evident: sports are becoming less about rivalries and playing games and more about standing up for American ideals. Seems like a little “Make America Great Again” spirit doesn’t just belong in politics but is catching fire right in the heart of America’s favorite pastimes.
