Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just delivered some harsh truths about our trade talks with Communist China. The Chinese delegation came to Madrid this week with what Bessent called very aggressive demands that would hurt American workers and families.
China wants us to roll over and give them everything they want in exchange for basic cooperation. They are still pushing their massive trade imbalance that has been bleeding our country dry for decades. These communist leaders think they can bully America into bad deals that destroy our manufacturing jobs.
The trade deficit with China remains a national disgrace that has cost millions of American jobs. Our factories have been shuttered while Chinese goods flood our markets and undercut our hardworking producers. This unfair relationship has gone on far too long and must end now.
China is also trying to use TikTok as a bargaining chip to get trade concessions from America. Bessent made it clear we will not sacrifice our national security for any social media app controlled by Beijing. The Chinese spy app has no place on American phones if it threatens our safety.
A good trade deal means China finally opens their markets to American farmers and manufacturers who have been locked out for years. We make the best agricultural products and manufactured goods in the world but China keeps them out unfairly. American workers deserve equal access to sell their products in Chinese markets.
China has been cheating on trade for decades by dumping cheap goods into America while blocking our exports. They steal our technology and force American companies to hand over trade secrets just to do business there. These corrupt practices must stop if China wants to trade with the greatest economy on earth.
President Trump will speak directly with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Friday to address these critical issues. Trump knows how to negotiate from strength and will not accept another bad deal that hurts American families. China needs America more than we need them.
America must stand firm against Chinese aggression and demand fair treatment for our workers and businesses. We cannot allow communist China to continue taking advantage of our generosity while they build their military with money stolen from American consumers. It is time for China to play by the rules or face the consequences.
