A newly released congressional report exposes how nearly $500,000 in hard-earned taxpayer money has been funneled to a U.K.-based “humanist” organization pushing atheism in Nepal, alongside another group quite literally helping pregnant migrants navigate the process of obtaining abortions in the U.S. This doesn’t sound like the kind of spending that mainstream Americans can get behind, but alas, the current administration continues its crusade to replace traditional values with its hyper-progressive agenda.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee didn’t just stop there. They unveiled that the department has been funding initiatives that any rational person would recognize as wildly out of touch with conservative principles. This includes “hyper progressive” feminist initiatives in West Africa, gay rights education for children in Laos, and groups that make it their business to suppress free speech in the U.S., particularly when it comes to conservative voices. If anyone thought foreign aid was about humanitarian assistance and diplomacy, think again; it seems instead to be about promoting liberal ideals at any cost.

Rep. Brian Mast, the chair of the subcommittee overseeing this spending, did not mince words when discussing this issue. He pointed out that the State Department has essentially turned foreign assistance into a playground for political leftist ideals, leaving the mainstream American belief system in the dust. This kind of behavior illustrates a dangerous precedent where government agencies are not just promoting a specific ideology abroad but are essentially weaponizing taxpayer dollars against the values held by the very people funding these efforts.
Among the more eyebrow-raising findings was the money allocated to the previously mentioned humanist group that teaches other organizations in Nepal how to expand atheism networks. These tactics have raised constitutional eyebrows, with many arguing that the First Amendment does not differentiate between supporting religion and supporting atheism. This cognitive dissonance proves that the State Department is more interested in advancing a particular worldview than respecting the diverse beliefs of the American populace.
Furthermore, when examining the funds allocated for coaching migrants, things take another sordid turn. Nearly $3 million was handed to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, which included advice to help migrants craft asylum claims in ways that would allow them to delay deportation by obscuring their true motives for entering the U.S. This seems to be an elaborate loophole for those seeking to exploit the system, supported by government funds, while officials at the Department of Population, Refugees, and Migration were completely out of the loop. The cherry on top is the funding provided to refer pregnant migrants to abortion providers—a blatant violation of federal law that underscores just how far removed the State Department is from representing American interests.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s response to these revelations indicates a troubling complacency with this pattern of spending. Despite serious concerns raised by lawmakers on the effectiveness and ethical nature of these programs—like funding Afghans to learn carpet weaving or women to farm in a country where basic rights are nonexistent—Blinken remains adamant about the supposed integrity of these expenditures. If this is how the Biden administration is handling taxpayer funds, Americans may want to rethink where their hard-earned dollars are going and what values they are actually funding on the world stage.
