The Biden-Harris administration has once again shown its true colors by allowing five University of California campuses to dodge accountability amid rising antisemitism. This settlement with the Department of Education comes on the heels of the Hamas terror attacks in Israel, leaving many to wonder how the administration continues to maintain a blind eye to antisemitism creeping into U.S. universities.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, rather than taking real action, the Department of Education’s “solution” merely revolves around having these universities self-report their own alleged indiscretions. That’s right—five campuses, including UCLA and UC Berkeley, are only required to conduct a little self-examination, as if internal audits from those who might be guilty will solve anything. Apparently, fixing discrimination issues is now as simple as filling out a form and crossing your fingers.
The universities involved have agreed to review complaints lodged in recent years, but there’s no guarantee of significant consequences for those found lacking. The administration’s strategy seems to be more about keeping the peace than tackling the very real problem of discrimination festering on these campuses. Heaven forbid anyone take a stand and confront the antisemitic rhetoric that has gained traction among certain student groups.

In the grand scheme of things, this weak response stands in stark contrast to the proactive stance taken by House Republicans, who have been diligently investigating rising antisemitism on campuses. Their efforts have led to the resignations of some university officials and a full report detailing the investigation’s findings. Meanwhile, the Democrat-controlled Senate has shown a remarkable lack of urgency, with just a single hearing that downplayed the severity of the issue. It’s an obvious case of putting partisan politics before protecting students.
To add fuel to the fire, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reportedly advised universities to simply ignore these antisemitic incidents, further showcasing how deeply entrenched the problem has become within the liberal elite. Perhaps the Democrats are worried that addressing the issue might upset some of their more vocal constituents. As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take on this mess, it’s clear that real action is needed, not empty promises of self-reporting and policy adjustments that will likely go nowhere.
