The Biden Administration’s moral bankruptcy appears to know no bounds, as reports suggest that officials are considering betraying Israel by recognizing Palestine as a sovereign state. Secretary of State Tony Blinken has requested a review from the State Department on possible policy options for recognizing Palestine after the recent conflict in Gaza, according to Axios. This shift in thinking within the Biden Administration is highly sensitive both internationally and domestically.
In addition to recognizing Palestine, the State Department is reportedly considering refraining from using American veto power to block a Security Council resolution admitting Palestine as a full UN member state. They may also encourage other countries to do the same. Former British Prime Minister David Cameron even stated that recognition for Palestine is under consideration in the UK.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly opposes recognizing a Palestinian state, whether by individual countries or in the UN. The potential move has drawn criticism from various voices, including Jason D. Greenblatt, an adviser to former President Donald Trump, who called it a “betrayal of Israel.” Others argue that recognizing Palestine would reward terrorism and appease bad actors.
The Biden Administration’s consideration of this move is appalling. It disregards the brutal and unwarranted savagery of Hamas’ recent attacks on Israel, which claimed the lives of men, women, and even infants. Israel is a sovereign nation recognized by the US and the UN and deserves support, not betrayal. Appeasing terrorists is a failed strategy, as history has shown. The Biden Administration must remember this and not give in to Hamas and their allies. Their potential decision to recognize Palestine is not only morally wrong but also sends the wrong message to the world.
