Biden Awards January 6 Figures, Fuels Political Theater Narrative

President Joe Biden has decided to hand out the Presidential Citizens Medal to the ringmasters of the January 6 circus, signaling that America’s current administration is still firmly planted in the world of political theater. In a bold move that seems to serve as an encore to last year’s melodrama, Biden has chosen to honor the illustrious Bennie Thompson and Liz Cheney—two figures synonymous with the continuation of a Democratic script aimed at undermining the previous administration.

The list of awardees announced by Biden isn’t just a collection of impressive names; it’s more like a “Who’s Who” of those who have danced to the government’s relentless march toward political correctness. Among them are Joseph Galloway, who famously chronicled war stories, and Mary Bonauto, celebrated for her role in making same-sex marriage a legal necessity instead of a choice. But let’s face it—the real head-turners are definitely Thompson and Cheney, who took center stage during the January 6 extravaganza. It’s as if Biden handed them a trophy for appearing in a one-man play titled “Look at What Trump Did!”

Cheney’s nomination paints her as a paragon of virtue, with words of praise lauding her supposed defense of “our Nation and the ideals we stand for.” Let’s not forget that this is the same Cheney who, post-primary, decided that her career needed a dramatic pivot towards promoting an anti-Trump agenda—one that included cozying up to the likes of Kamala Harris in a last-ditch effort to thwart Trump’s return to the presidency. It’s a real grassroots effort, if that “grass” is made of Washington elite, of course.

Meanwhile, the well-trodden narrative of Thompson’s exploits begins by highlighting his humble beginnings in segregated Mississippi, which certainly sounds heroic. His role in the Jan. 6 committee, however, could more accurately be described as leading a rather inquisitor-like inquiry into the former president’s actions rather than a noble defense of truth. Calls for legal investigations into Cheney’s alleged witness tampering have added a pinch of salt to the accolades, reminding everyone that the road to honor for some may be paved with ethical lapses.

The timing of these awards shouldn’t be overlooked, either. As the 2024 election approaches, Biden seems to be pulling every possible trick from the leftist playbook. Awarding medals to those who have taken the lead in dismantling Trump’s character is less about recognizing service and more a desperate attempt to sway public opinion. Despite their self-proclaimed objectivity, public sentiment still swings heavily in favor of Trump, with voters in swing states more inclined to support his return to power, despite their efforts.

In the grand finale of political shenanigans, it seems that under Biden’s watch, calling out and vilifying Trump is as American as apple pie. While some may applaud the awards as a graceful nod to “patriotism,” it becomes increasingly clear that the real fight is simply for a narrative that ignores the will of the voters. The upcoming election will serve as a litmus test for whether the American people are buying what Biden is selling or if they’ll turn their backs on this theater of the absurd.
