In an event that could only be described as a ‘bizarre send-off into irrelevancy,’ President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to none other than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a two-time presidential also-ran with an impressive resume in election denial. The highest civilian honor in the United States was presented to a woman who has made quite a career out of questioning the integrity of elections, particularly her own catastrophic defeats in 2008 and 2016. A true renaissance woman in the realm of losing, Clinton’s claim to fame seems to revolve around her talent for conspiracy rather than competence in governance.
The medal ceremony itself featured the 82-year-old Biden, who, with all the grace of a toddler attempting ballet, draped the shiny piece of hardware around Clinton’s neck while she beamed with pride. After a cheek kiss that could have been mistaken for a scene out of a rom-com, Clinton took her seat amid applause that likely echoed awkwardly in the faces of those who considered her a political liability. The event served more as a clear signal of who is still seen as a Democratic icon in a party that seems to be pawning its political gold for symbolic trinkets.
Clinton’s past statements about election integrity have not only sparked debates but also highlighted her own questionable credibility. Her incredulity following her loss to Trump in 2016 included claims that the Supreme Court “took away a presidency” in 2000. Fast forward to 2020, and she continued her streak of denial, suggesting that the 2016 election was beset by nefarious activities and that Stacey Abrams’ loss in Georgia was due to unfair practices. Apparently, in Clinton’s world of electoral gymnastics, results can be disputed when they aren’t in her favor, but are rock-solid when she wins.
Feels like a humiliation ritual… for all parties. https://t.co/afIGmbTWnR

The medal wasn’t awarded solely to Clinton, however, as billionaire Democrat donor George Soros also received the same accolade. His son Alex took the stage to accept the award on his behalf. Soros, the cash magnet for progressive causes, was recognized for his philanthropic contributions that, ironically, often destabilize the very democracy they claim to support. With aspirations to strengthen democracy across the globe, Soros’s achievements would leave many scratching their heads as civil unrest and political divisions rise in the areas he ‘supports.’
The White House, inexplicably defending this exercise in selective honor, stated that recipients should represent those who have made exemplary contributions to America’s values and security. This begs the question: which values are they referencing? The right to freely question election outcomes evidently has its own stipulations if one is part of the Democratic elite. One thing is clear—Biden’s choices reflect a party entrenched in double standards, where losing gracefully takes a backseat to recognizing those who have become synonymous with dubious political antics and sizeable campaign contributions.
