Biden Border Policy Flawed as Interpol Suspect Arrested in Texas

President Joe Biden’s weak border policy continues to have harmful consequences as police in Splendora, Texas recently arrested an illegal immigrant wanted by Interpol for murder. According to information posted on the City of Splendora Police Department’s Facebook page, Leo Acosta Sanchez, 21, was taken into custody on Friday with the help of federal officers.

Sanchez was known to travel between Splendora and her residence in Terrenos, Texas, near Houston. During a routine traffic stop, officers identified her and called for backup which led to her arrest. Immigration and Customs officials confirmed that Sanchez is originally from Mexico and had entered the United States as a nonimmigrant on Aug. 20, 2023, and had violated the terms of her admission. Sanchez is currently in ICE custody pending the outcome of her immigration

This arrest is just the latest example of the challenges posed by President Biden’s southern border policies. Although the specific details of the murder Sanchez has been accused of have not been released, her alleged crimes are serious enough for Interpol to have been after her.

While President Biden and Democrats may attempt to portray those crossing the southern border as refugees seeking shelter from oppressive regimes, the reality presents a different picture. ICE reported that a 12-day operation in January resulted in the arrests of 171 illegal immigrants for alleged crimes including murder, homicide, or assault against children. In addition, between Feb. 5 and 16, ICE arrested 275 illegal immigrants who were convicted sex offenders.

One of the most tragic instances of these crimes occurred in February when Jose Antonio Ibarra allegedly attacked and killed Georgia nursing student Laken Riley. Ibarra was indicted on charges of murder and aggravated assault with intent to rape earlier this month. During his recent State of the Union address, President Biden was prompted by Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to acknowledge Riley’s death, and he struggled to do so.

In light of these recent events, the need for stronger border security becomes increasingly clear. It is evident that while some criminals are apprehended, many others are still able to slip past the border and live in the United States without facing consequences. The severity of these crimes underscores the importance of addressing the crisis at the southern border.
