Biden Bows Out 2024 Kamala Harris Fumbles Into Spotlight

In a twist that could only be worthy of a political comedy show, Joe Biden has officially taken the plunge and opted out of the 2024 race, leaving behind a smattering of Democrats scrambling to support their new “Crown Jewel”—Vice President Kamala Harris. This hasn’t just sent shockwaves through the left; it’s like the Democrats woke up one morning to find they had all unknowingly signed up for a circus rather than an election.

As if the past few years haven’t proven enough to conservative Americans, the swift endorsement of Harris by key Democrat factions illustrates a party looking more like a toddler playing dress-up than a serious political entity. The AFT and SEIU have jumped on the Harris bandwagon faster than a cat on a laser pointer. And while the party elites wring their hands, the rest of America is left to wonder if they’re somehow going to convince us that Harris can lead them to success—something she’s failed to do even in her own campaign, where she was the first to drop out back in 2019.

The media, in their excitement, is trying to spin Harris as the noble successor to Biden’s throne. A New York Times column heralded her as the “only choice” to replace the man who was supposed to save America. But the “rah-rah Kamala” attitude feels more desperate than celebratory. Perhaps the media is a little too hopeful, considering they’ve forgotten the lessons of her previous lackluster campaign efforts. The parallels of her impending coronation look more like a last-minute Halloween costume party—thrown together and totally not convincing.

Yet there’s an unspoken anxiety hanging over the Harris campaign, namely the fact that one major player, Barack Obama, chose not to back her. The omission is telling, as one can’t help but wonder if the former president feels that supporting Harris is akin to backing a sinking ship. This has left observers scratching their heads, wondering if indeed Obama believes the current plan will leave Harris floundering in the shallow end.

As the political circus rumbles forward, the looming thought for conservative Americans becomes clear: Is Biden hoping Harris loses big? She could very well serve as the sacrificial lamb for a party that knows they’re in trouble. The perception of Harris as merely a marginal candidate could easily pave the way for more viable options in the next election—if the Democrats can somehow patch together a coherent vision. Given Harris’s history of fainting in the face of her own party’s confusion, it’ll be amusing to watch the party rally around her while she attempts to jog their memory of her capabilities, including her ability to recognize that Ukraine is indeed a country.

In the meantime, the Democrats stand ready to pump up Harris as their new leader, firmly ignoring any past performance records. But with a candidate who’s been more prone to political oops than actual policies, one thing is certain: If anyone thinks this is the beginning of a new dawn for the Democrats, they might want to revisit that old reliable adage about not counting chickens before they hatch. The spectacle of it all should keep conservative Americans entertained as they watch the party of “inclusion” awkwardly rally around their less-than-ideal candidate for 2024.
