While Biden defended McConnell’s ability to continue holding office, doubts still lingered after another freezing incident occurred during his address to the Chamber of Commerce. Earlier this year, McConnell faced similar questions after experiencing a freezing episode at the US Capitol. However, the attending physician of Congress, Dr. Brian Monahan, declared that McConnell is medically fit to fulfill his duties and continue with his schedule.
Despite efforts to reassure the public, some critics argue that McConnell should consider stepping down or retiring due to concerns about his fitness for the job. Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum suggested that McConnell may need to take a reduced role in the Senate. Conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also called for federal oversight, expressing concerns about aging health issues and mental health incompetence among the nation’s leaders.
