As Hawaii continues to recover from the devastating fire that has claimed the lives of nearly 100 people, making it the most destructive wildfire in American history, President Joe Biden was spotted vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. With the brushfires igniting on Maui just last week, one would expect the President to be rushing to the scene to oversee recovery efforts. However, it seems that he opted to remain on vacation, providing terse responses to questions about the increasing death toll caused by the fires. Shockingly, there are still around 1,000 people missing.

The President’s lackluster response has raised questions about his empathy towards the victims of this natural disaster. Is he simply too tired or is this administration unable to effectively handle crises? It’s almost comical how they consistently fail to respond to natural disasters. Let’s not forget the train derailment in Ohio back in February, which had the potential to cause an environmental catastrophe. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg took days to address the situation, and even now Joe Biden hasn’t bothered to visit the affected residents. It appears that politics may have played a role in the delayed response, as the site of the derailment, East Palestine, is a deep red Trump Country.
Perhaps aides were hesitant to send Biden into another disaster zone after the brushfire in Hawaii, which is a true-blue state. But even that doesn’t excuse his negligence in refusing to visit Ohio. This incompetence rests solely on his shoulders. The explanation given for his absence is laughable – they claim they don’t want to be a distraction. Well, I’m sorry, but that’s just not cutting it. Larry O’Connor perfectly summed it up by bringing up the 2020 narrative that Joe Biden is the epitome of empathy. Well, he certainly blew that narrative out of the water over this weekend. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the President was simply too exhausted to do his job properly. We all witnessed the toll that three days of work took on Joe after the NATO Summit – it completely ruined him.
