The confirmation of Angela Martinez as a district court judge in Arizona, with a vote of 66-28, marked this milestone. Biden highlighted the qualifications and diversity of his judicial appointees, stating that they are from various backgrounds and form the most diverse group ever put forward by a president.
Biden emphasized the importance of judges, stating that they have the power to protect or diminish fundamental rights. With over 60% of his judicial appointees being women or people of color, the administration claimed that these diverse judges will have an impact on crucial issues such as reproductive healthcare decisions, voting rights, labor unions, and environmental protections.

Despite Trump’s overall higher number of judges and justices confirmed by the Senate, the Biden administration has emphasized the historic number of black women appointed to be circuit judges, highlighting their focus on diversity in the judiciary.
