After the Electoral College’s rude awakening for Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden’s speech as he assumed the role of gracious loser seemed to strike a somewhat cheery note. Apparently, he forgot to bring his handkerchief for the tears and opted instead to throw a celebration of sorts that would make any red-blooded American chuckle.
During his address, Biden congratulated Trump on his win and stated his commitment to ensuring an orderly transition. One can almost picture it: Biden in a party hat, waiting for the confetti drop while the Democratic Party falls apart in the background. The urgency to move forward must have struck a joyful chord with him; after all, the Democrats had just undergone a public meltdown that would’ve put even the most flamboyant soap opera to shame. The optics of Jill Biden’s MAGA moment were a sharp jab to the hopelessly divided left, raising eyebrows and fears about the party’s imminent implosion. It was almost like she was throwing a fashion party while waving goodbye to her husband’s administration, announcing to all that she was, in fact, quite over the soap opera that was the Biden presidency.
The infighting amongst Democrats has escalated into comical levels, akin to a family feud played out in public. With Harris’s defeat still fresh in the memory, cracks were already emerging as party leaders began pointing fingers at one another like children in a schoolyard squabble. Rumbling whispers alleged that the Obama advisers were catechizing their disapproval of Biden from the get-go, preferring a different nominee altogether while chomping at the bit to usurp him later.

In the aftermath of this electoral circus, Democrats seem preoccupied with the ins and outs of their internal strife rather than regrouping for future battles. Biden’s sunny outlook could be attributed to the simplest reason of all: not having to deal with Kamala Harris sulking around after getting soundly defeated by Trump. Biden’s enthusiasm over handing the keys to the White House back to Trump could very well be seen as just another moment in a never-ending saga that captures the very essence of political drama: a light shining on a party too caught up in its squabbles to realize that a large chunk of the country is ready for a change. As the days unfold, one can only speculate if an actual return to civility, order, and a conservative approach will bring a genuine moment of clarity to the beleaguered Democratic scene. In the end, while Biden and his supporters throw their unused campaign slogans in the air, the rest of America can sit back and enjoy the show.
