The Biden bunch is at it again, spending billions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars on replacing Chinese cargo cranes with good ol’ American-made ones. The Wall Street Journal spilled the beans on this latest move, highlighting the administration’s concern about potential national security threats posed by those sneaky Chinese cranes.

Now, I don’t know about you, but the last thing we need is China snooping around our ports, messing with our military shipments, and potentially causing chaos in our already fragile economy. It’s about time someone put their foot down and said, “No more Chinese-made mischief in our backyard!”
The Biden administration is not just stopping at swapping out the cranes though, oh no. They’re also ramping up cybersecurity measures and setting higher standards for all those foreign-built cranes hanging around our seaports. It’s like they finally woke up and realized that national security should actually be a top priority.
Of course, the Chinese government dismissed these concerns as “paranoia driven,” but we all know they can’t be trusted as far as we can throw ’em. And let’s not forget the potential for cyber attacks and espionage that could put our economy and military operations at risk. I mean, who in their right mind would want a bunch of Chinese-controlled cranes messing with our goods and military shipments?
Thankfully, the Biden administration is getting smart and opting for domestically-built cranes from a Japanese company’s U.S. subsidiary. Finally, a step in the right direction to protect our homeland from foreign threats. And with over $20 billion being pumped into this project over the next five years, it’s clear they mean business.
It’s been over three decades since we’ve built these kinds of cranes domestically, and it’s about time we bring that industry back home where it belongs. With China-backed hacking and cyber operations targeting crucial American infrastructure, we can’t afford to have any more vulnerabilities hanging around in our ports.
Kudos to the Biden administration for taking a stand and investing in our security. Let’s hope they keep up the good work and continue to put America first in all their decisions.
