President Joe Biden faced criticism from fellow Democrats following the airstrikes carried out against Houthi rebels in Yemen. These strikes were a response to the numerous attacks against ships off Yemen by the Iranian-backed rebels, who have been causing havoc since the terrorist attack in Israel. It comes as no surprise that many Democrats argue that these strikes are a violation of the Constitution. Seriously, do they ever stop complaining?

Democratic Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri, in all her infinite wisdom, took to social media to question the legality of the airstrikes. She claimed that President Biden cannot simply launch airstrikes without congressional approval. Well, Rep. Bush, maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time reading the Constitution, you would know that the President has the authority to take decisive military action when necessary. It’s called protecting our interests and defending American lives, in case you forgot.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan joined the chorus of complaints, once again claiming that the American people are tired of endless war. Well, Rep. Tlaib, we’re tired of your constant whining and lack of understanding when it comes to national security. The fact is, these airstrikes were necessary to send a strong message to the Houthi rebels and their Iranian backers. We can’t just sit back and let them wreak havoc without consequences.
Other House Democrats also cited the Constitution, specifically Article I, to criticize President Biden’s actions. Are they suddenly experts on constitutional law now? Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California argued that the President should have sought congressional approval before launching the strikes. Sorry, Rep. Khanna, but the President doesn’t need your permission to protect American interests. Maybe you should focus on actually doing your job instead of playing armchair general.
Even former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who used to have some sense, couldn’t resist criticizing Biden. She claimed that the strikes were not well thought out and questioned their impact on national security. It’s easy to talk about consequences when you’re not the one making tough decisions, isn’t it, Tulsi? The reality is that sometimes military action is necessary to prevent further harm and protect our allies. It’s called being a responsible leader, something that seems to be lost on the current Democratic Party.
In the end, President Biden made the right call by authorizing these airstrikes. We can’t allow Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, to continue attacking ships and threatening our national security. It’s about time we had a President who takes decisive action and puts American interests first. So, to all the Democrats complaining about these strikes: maybe it’s time for you to step aside and let the adults handle the tough decisions.
