The situation at the southern border, a festering problem that the Biden-Harris administration appears intent on ignoring, continues to raise eyebrows among concerned citizens. Despite the administration’s proclamations about addressing the so-called “root causes” of illegal immigration, reality has painted a far different picture. Rather than deterrence, the latest data expose a shocking trend: a staggering 90% of illegal entrants are being allowed to stay in the United States.
A program designed to expedite the removal of families who crossed the border illegally, which was rolled out in May 2023, has turned out to be little more than a poorly executed joke. Out of 24,000 migrants processed under the Family Expedited Removal Program, over 22,000 have been granted permission to remain in the country. This means that just 10% have faced deportation. Meanwhile, another 3,600 have vanished entirely, proving that the only thing this program excels at is providing cover for the administration’s failure to enforce immigration law.

House Republicans, led by figures like Mark Green, have been vocal in their critiques, calling attention to the administration’s inability to prioritize border security. With such dismal rates of removal, the message is clear: the Biden-Harris duo, alongside the now-impeached Alejandro Mayorkas, seems more interested in sidestepping the issue than tackling it head-on. The glaring statistics demonstrate an alarming disregard for U.S. immigration laws, which raises questions about the administration’s commitment to protecting American citizens.
The so-called “consequences for unlawful entry” touted by the administration appear to be nothing more than window dressing. Ankle monitors for adult family members do little to address the elephant in the room: allowing individuals who entered the country unlawfully to remain here unchecked. American voters, who increasingly recognize illegal immigration as a pressing issue, are left wondering why their leaders seem to be rolling out the welcome mat instead of enforcing the laws that are supposed to govern entry into the nation.
As the 2024 election cycle heats up, the implications of this border crisis are likely to resonate deeply with the electorate. Candidates such as former President Trump and Senator J.D. Vance can capitalize on the administration’s disastrous handling of immigration to galvanize their campaigns. It’s a classic case of political mismanagement, and expect that this issue will be wielded like a sword as they confront the challenges that lie ahead. The American public deserves to know why lawbreakers are being allowed to roam freely, and it is clear that this administration has entirely lost the plot.
