President Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services is at it again, trying to throw a wrench into the works for pro-life pregnancy resource centers. The proposed rule, spearheaded by none other than HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, would stop states from using Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds to support these vital centers.

This move puts the squeeze on four states—Missouri, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Indiana—that rely on TANF dollars to keep their pregnancy resource centers afloat. According to the folks at Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, these centers are a lifeline for women in need, providing critical support during unexpected pregnancies.
Now here’s the kicker: recent polling shows that a whopping 74% of folks are in favor of using taxpayer dollars to keep pregnancy resource centers up and running. But the Biden administration seems to be turning a blind eye to the will of the people, pushing their own radical agenda instead.
Let’s talk numbers for a hot second. These four states use a measly $1-7 million of TANF funds for pregnancy centers annually, while Planned Parenthood rakes in a mind-boggling $670.4 million in federal and state taxpayer dollars in just one year. It’s David and Goliath all over again, folks.
But that’s not all. Biden’s crew is seemingly hellbent on steering women facing unexpected pregnancies toward only one option—abortion. Even though a whopping 60% of women who have had abortions say they would have preferred to give birth if they had more financial or emotional support, Biden’s gang is pulling out all the stops to limit their choices.
And if all that wasn’t enough, pro-life pregnancy centers have been under fire for months. Ever since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization opinion leaked in 2022, these vital centers have been subject to baseless attacks from pro-abortion supporters. Even after the final ruling came out, these centers continued to face dishonest rhetoric and vile attacks.
But fear not, because these pregnancy resource centers are on the front lines, helping over 150 families each year. They offer everything from free ultrasounds and medical exams to mentoring and financial assistance. It’s a shame that the Biden administration’s new policy is throwing a wrench into the very support system that TANF was created to provide. But rest assured, these centers are fighting tooth and nail to keep serving the women and families who need them the most.
