President Joe Biden gave his 2024 State of the Union address focusing on all the wrong things according to a conservative viewpoint. Ignoring issues like immigration, inflation, and crime, he instead chose to talk about Ukraine, the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and the COVID-19 pandemic, topics that most Americans don’t really care much about. Biden started by fear-mongering about Putin and Ukraine, conveniently forgetting to mention the real threat at hand – the crisis at our own southern border! It’s no surprise that the top concern for Americans is immigration, with 28% of people prioritizing it in a February Gallup poll. But did Biden address this pressing issue? Of course not.

Instead of addressing real American concerns, Biden wasted time talking about events from three and a half years ago, like the Capitol riot, and taking veiled shots at former President Trump. Blaming Trump for everything seems to be Biden’s favorite pastime. And let’s not forget his strange focus on the COVID-19 pandemic, which, according to him, is now being related to beating cancer. Huh? Is there anything this president won’t try to politicize?
The most outrageous moment of the speech came when Biden stumbled over the name of Laken Riley, a young woman tragically killed by an illegal immigrant. Botching her name and then awkwardly trying to recover by calling her “Lincoln” only highlights this administration’s incompetence and lack of care for victims of illegal immigration. It’s no wonder Americans are increasingly concerned about Biden’s age and health, with 66% of voters worried about his fitness for office in the upcoming 2024 election. And reports of Biden struggling to remember key dates and events during interviews only add fuel to the fire.
While Biden’s handlers may have tried to present his speech as a reset for his struggling re-election campaign, it’s clear that the American people see through the smoke and mirrors. Instead of addressing the issues that matter most to voters, Biden continues to push his own agenda, leaving everyday Americans feeling forgotten and ignored. It’s time for a real leader to step up and tackle the challenges facing our nation, not just parade around talking points that only serve to further divide us.
