An associate editor of the Washington Post claimed that President Trump's plan to reduce the federal workforce by firing workers is an example of fascism. This comes from a media that has been continuously labeling the Republican Party as fascist for years.
It’s very funny that these left-wing talking heads can’t seem to grasp the concept of fascism even though they have no background in it. The White House has started implementing new restrictions on media access in the briefing room, which shows that the left has lost its privileges.
Around the month of August, Fred Lucas, the head news correspondent for the conservative news outlet The Daily Signal, will lose his hard pass. Since he has been able to access briefings at the White House since 2009, he will no longer be able to do so. The White House has not provided the exact number of journalists who will lose their passes.
In May, the US Department of Justice issued new rules requiring reporters to get accreditation from the press galleries of the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. They also require them to work full-time for a media organization that's focused on news dissemination.
Although the new rules may seem reasonable on the surface, they give the press team of Joe Biden more power to expel reporters who they don't like. It is an attempt to limit the media's access to the White House and control what is being said there.
The White House Correspondents' Association, which is supposed to fight for press access, was informed about the new rules, but it was not able to provide feedback. Instead, it is the policy of the Biden administration. The WHCA should have been more concerned with defending press freedom instead of working with the administration to limit media access.
If the new rules had been implemented during the Trump presidency, the media would have been outraged, and it would have been called an attack on the press. However, when it's Biden implementing these restrictions, the media has barely protested. The goal of these rules is to make the press room more secure, and only friendly faces would be allowed to enter.
If the media were truly concerned about press freedom, it would have protested against these new rules. Unfortunately, the media has remained silent as the Biden administration continues to try and control the press. It's time for the conservative media to start taking a stand and demanding that the government provide more transparency.
