During one of his events discussing technology and artificial intelligence, President Biden spoke about his son’s recent legal troubles. When asked if he had spoken to Hunter Biden since news broke that he would be pleading guilty to multiple tax and gun charges, President Biden responded, “I’m very proud of my son.”

This comes as no surprise from the president, who has repeatedly stated his trust and faith in his son, claiming that he has done “nothing wrong.” But elected Republicans and several legal experts have criticized the plea deal that Hunter Biden has received, allowing him to plead guilty to only two tax misdemeanors and a weapons charge that is usually classified as a felony.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has referred to the agreement as a “sweetheart deal” and has vowed to continue with the House GOP’s investigation into an alleged criminal bribery scheme involving the Biden family. Lawmakers have accused federal law enforcement agencies and the DOJ of withholding information related to this issue, including the FBI’s refusal to turn over a crucial FD-1023 form. The FBI eventually complied with a House subpoena after a motion to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress was filed.
Furthermore, emails recovered from Hunter Biden’s laptop have accused him of additional crimes, including paying for sex-trafficked prostitutes with “tens-of-thousands” of dollars. The information in these emails has caused even more concern among Republicans and conservative citizens regarding the potential corruption within the Biden family.
In summary, President Biden’s comments about his son’s legal troubles and his insistence that Hunter has done “nothing wrong” continue to raise eyebrows, particularly among conservatives who are skeptical of the Biden administration’s transparency and integrity. The plea deal that Hunter has received and the ongoing investigation into the Biden family’s alleged criminal activities have only intensified these concerns.
