First Lady Jill Biden is continuing her trend of whisking President Joe Biden away on expensive vacation trips back to their home state of Delaware. It’s become quite the tradition, and it’s starting to hurt the American taxpayers who foot the bill for these extravagant getaways.
In an article by Delaware News Journal contributor Hannah Edelman, she exposes the shocking truth that President Biden has made a staggering 76 trips to Delaware since his inauguration. That’s right, 76 trips! The man practically lives there! And this isn’t just a quick weekend getaway—we’re talking about an average stay of three and a half days. The longest visit lasted a whopping 11 days.
Sure, we understand that not all of these trips were leisurely vacations. Some were supposedly for official events and funerals. But let’s face it, folks, 76 trips in less than a year? That’s a lot of time away from the Oval Office. It makes you wonder if he’s really prioritizing the needs of the American people or if he’s more concerned about his own comfort.

And while President Biden is enjoying his endless visits to Delaware, the local taxpayers are left holding the bag. New Castle County alone has shelled out over $3.27 million for police and emergency medical services since he took office. That’s money that could have been used to improve schools or fix infrastructure. But no, instead it’s being spent on making sure the president feels safe and secure during his extended vacations.
Now, don’t get us wrong, we understand that security is essential for any president. But shouldn’t the federal government be covering the full cost of these visits? It turns out they don’t, despite the availability of grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These grants fall short, leaving localities to foot the majority of the bill. New Castle County did receive some reimbursements, but it’s far from enough to cover the massive expenses incurred.
And let’s not forget the bizarre comment President Biden made during one of his Delaware trips last month. He told a reporter that he has “no home to go to” when he’s out of the White House. Really, Mr. President? Are we supposed to believe that the leader of the free world, with all the resources at his disposal, has nowhere to call home? It sounds more like an attempt to garner sympathy than a genuine statement. Either way, it’s concerning that our president seems so disconnected from reality.
So, while President Biden continues to enjoy his countless trips to Delaware, the American people are left to foot the bill and wonder if their leader truly has their best interests at heart. Maybe it’s time for Mr. Biden to spend a little less time in his home state and a little more time solving the multitude of problems facing our great nation. Just a thought.
