President Joe Biden’s negligence and refusal to address the crisis he created at the southern border has once again resulted in tragedy. The recent case of Carlos Corrales-Ramirez serves as a glaring example of how Biden’s lax immigration policies have dire consequences.

Corrales-Ramirez, an illegal alien from Honduras, was arrested and charged with the fatal stabbing of Jario J. Hernandez-Sanchez. Shockingly, this was not Corrales-Ramirez’s first run-in with the law. He had previously been apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents for a non-fatal stabbing in Maryland. Despite this violent history, Corrales-Ramirez was released due to a paperwork error and was free to take another innocent life.
It is infuriating to think that Corrales-Ramirez was allowed to roam free for three months while awaiting extradition to Maryland. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Maryland authorities who failed to obtain a governor’s warrant in a timely manner. However, Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas must also take responsibility for imposing constraints on ICE’s ability to detain individuals like Corrales-Ramirez. Their obsession with protecting the rights of illegal immigrants over the safety of American citizens is truly alarming.
This tragedy exposes the flawed logic behind Mayorkas’ policy. Requiring individuals to be convicted of a violent crime before considering them a public safety threat is a dangerous gamble. It effectively allows criminals with pending charges to walk free, potentially causing further harm to innocent people.
Corrales-Ramirez’s plea of not guilty and the need for a mental health evaluation only add to the absurdity of this situation. It is clear that there are serious issues with our immigration and legal systems that need to be addressed urgently.
President Biden cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the crisis at the southern border. The safety and security of American citizens must be his utmost priority. It’s time for him to take decisive action and implement policies that prioritize national security and the rule of law. We cannot afford any more tragedies like the one caused by Carlos Corrales-Ramirez.
