Scalise revealed on Tuesday that he had been feeling "off" for the past week before blood tests confirmed the presence of the "very treatable" malignancy. Despite his diagnosis, the congressman is determined to persevere, assuring the public that he will continue to work assiduously and will return to Washington victorious.
According to the esteemed Mayo Clinic, multiple myeloma is a dangerous form of blood cancer that develops in plasma cells and accumulates in the unforgiving bone marrow. Bone marrow transplants, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are among the available treatments for this condition. The press secretary of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, expressed her deepest condolences to Scalise and his family, recognizing the tremendous obstacles he has confronted in recent years. She stated, "It's obvious he's been through a lot."
Scalise previously demonstrated his resiliency by surviving a 2017 assassination attempt by a zealous supporter of the progressive senator Bernard Sanders.
