President Biden’s recent confession regarding his decision to run for re-election seems to reveal more than just his obsession with former President Trump. At a campaign fundraiser in Massachusetts, Biden stated, “If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running,” before emphasizing the need to prevent Trump from winning for the sake of the country. It’s no secret that Biden has been fixated on Trump throughout his presidency, but this acknowledgment of his own dependence on Trump’s presence raises eyebrows and highlights the implications of Biden’s age.

Even though Biden attempted to backtrack on his admission later in the evening, stating that he would likely be running for president even if Trump wasn’t in the race, his initial comment speaks volumes. In a brief 18-second clip, Biden appeared confused and shielded his eyes from the glaring lights as a reporter asked him about running for president without Trump as a competitor. Biden responded, “I expect so. But look, he is running, and I just, I have to run.” When asked if he would drop out if Trump did the same, Biden’s response was a resounding “No. Not now.”
These scattered and uncertain responses from Biden only add to the concerns about his mental and physical state. The president often stumbles and says incoherent things, leaving many to question his fitness for office. This is compounded by his administration’s catastrophic decisions and the growing realization among voters that Biden’s age and capability are significant issues.
It is also worth noting that Biden’s obsession with Trump extends to his donors, many of whom are wealthy Wall Street tycoons. These Trump-hating donors have little regard for Biden himself and are solely determined to defeat the former president. Billionaire investor Bill Ackman stated, “Biden’s done a lot of good things. But I think his legacy will not be a good one if he is the nominee.” JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon even urged liberal Democrats to support Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, emphasizing the desperation among powerful individuals to stop Trump at any cost.
However, recent polls have shown troubling news for these Trump-obsessed elites. Trump is currently leading Biden in battleground states and has gained substantial support among traditionally Democratic voters. While the president’s candid admission about his reliance on Trump may have caught many off guard, it may ultimately prove prophetic considering the growing discontent among his own donors and the changing tides of public opinion.
