In a shocking revelation that exposes the true chaos of Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, a new book titled “Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden’s Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End” unveils the horrifying experiences of the brave U.S. Marines who were at the forefront of the deadly ISIS-K attack. This battalion, the same one that suffered the loss of nine of their comrades, were not only abandoned by their own government but were also ordered to clean up the mess at Hamid Karzai International Airport before leaving the country.

According to the book, these brave warriors, who had just endured unimaginable hell, were forced to confront the sight of trash, human waste, and even “unspeakable things” littering the airport. It’s absolutely disgraceful that these heroic Marines were made to clean up after the mess left by the Afghan people and the complete failure of Joe Biden’s leadership.
Not only were they required to clean up the filth, but they were also ordered to destroy any sensitive equipment and deny the Taliban access to anything useful. And they certainly carried out this order with gusto! They demolished sensitive equipment, smashed windows, and even threw a unit guidon through a flat-screen TV like a spear. This may seem extreme to some, but who can blame them? After witnessing the horrors of the past two weeks, these Marines deserved a release for their pent-up frustration.
However, it appears that some higher-ups had the audacity to condemn the Marines for taking their emotions out on the surroundings. Army Sergeant Major Garric Banfied had the nerve to complain about “penises being spray-painted all over the place.” Seriously? While our brave Marines were risking their lives in the midst of chaos, this sergeant major was worried about spray-painted graffiti? Talk about misplaced priorities.
But the ultimate insult came when, after enduring false alarms and the constant threat of danger, the 2/1 Marines were ordered to clean up the terminal where thousands of people had been waiting for evacuation flights. It is utterly unheard of to expect these Marines to clean up a war zone. The terminal was filled with trash, human feces, and even vehicles that had been flipped over by the Marines themselves. And yet, they were given the demeaning task of restoring order to this chaotic scene, all while bearing the emotional weight of losing thirteen fellow service members.
To add insult to injury, their own battalion commander, Lt. Col. Brad Whited, was forced to join in the cleanup effort. This highlights the absurdity of the situation and the dissatisfaction that even he felt. The Marines at every level were furious with this order, and rightly so. It is an egregious injustice to burden these brave warriors, who have already sacrificed so much, with the task of cleaning up the mess caused by incompetence and failed leadership.
In the face of such a degrading and ridiculous directive, these Marines packed up their dignity and left Afghanistan just before midnight on August 29th. And who could blame them? They had already endured enough suffering and hardship without having to clean up after others.

It is essential that we learn from the mistakes made in this fiasco and ensure that such chaos and humiliation are never inflicted upon our military again.
