In the second Republican presidential debate for the 2024 election, Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota made a bold claim that has the mainstream media spinning. According to Burgum, the ongoing United Auto Workers strike is not just a labor dispute, but a direct result of President Joe Biden’s green agenda. Finally, someone with the courage to speak the truth!
While the liberal media may try to push a different narrative, Burgum hit the nail on the head when he pointed out that Biden’s interference with the capital markets and free markets is the real cause of the strike. The subsidies for automakers and electric vehicles in particular have created an unfair playing field and disrupted the natural flow of the market. When taxpayer money is used to subsidize a specific type of vehicle, and the batteries for that vehicle are sourced from China, it’s no wonder that workers are up in arms.
China currently controls 85 percent of the rare-earth minerals needed for electric car batteries. These minerals are called rare-earth for a reason – they are incredibly scarce and China has been ravaging the earth to obtain them. By subsidizing electric vehicles, we are essentially supporting China’s destruction of the planet. Is this the kind of environmental policy that Biden wants to be known for? It’s clear that his green climate policies are not only detrimental to American workers, but also to the environment itself.

Burgum also highlighted another concerning aspect of the strike – the fact that electric cars require two-thirds less workers to build compared to traditional vehicles. This means that as electric vehicles become more prevalent, there will be a decrease in job opportunities for hardworking Americans. Biden’s push for electric cars may seem like a step towards a greener future, but it’s actually a threat to the livelihood of thousands of workers in the auto industry.
It’s refreshing to see a Republican candidate like Burgum speaking out against Biden’s green agenda. We need leaders who will prioritize American workers and protect our economy from unnecessary government intervention. The United Auto Workers strike is just a taste of what could happen if we continue down this path. It’s time to put America first and reject the harmful policies that Biden is trying to impose on us.
