Biden’s Israel Policy Weakens Allies and Empowers Hamas Amid Hostage Crisis

The incompetence surrounding U.S. foreign policy continues to rise to new heights under the Biden administration, particularly in the handling of Hamas. After the brutal execution of hostages, including American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Biden chose to deflect blame away from the terrorists and instead took aim at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting that Israel wasn’t doing enough. Such a response not only reveals a shocking lack of understanding of the situation but also signals to Hamas that they can act with impunity while the U.S. hampers its allies.

Biden’s repeated pressuring of Israel has not just been counterproductive; it has outright strengthened Hamas. The logic is astonishingly simple: when one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist groups observes that their actions lead to concessions and critiques directed at their victims, they are incentivized to continue their brutal agenda. Yet, rather than standing firmly with an ally, Biden’s administration seems caught off guard, shocked that Hamas would dare to escalate their threats after such violence.

Recent reports indicate that the Biden team was stunned by Hamas’s latest demands for even higher numbers of prisoner releases. This newfound ignorance raises eyebrows, as it has long been established that negotiating with terrorists is a fool’s errand. Once a precedent is established, the bar for future demands is raised, and in this case, Hamas is now insisting on releasing a greater number of prisoners than previously discussed. The absurdity of yielding to terrorists should not be lost on anyone with even a hint of common sense.

And as if the situation couldn’t get worse, Hamas is openly threatening to kill additional hostages, following the discovery of the bodies of the last hostages, executed in cold blood. The proposed terms of negotiation are exhausting and alarming, including the potential for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners to be released in exchange for hostages held by Hamas. This cycle of concessions is reminiscent of a bad movie that never seems to end, where the hero’s own allies are thrown under the bus to appease villains who only grow bolder with every concession.

The hard truth is, Netanyahu hit the nail on the head when he articulated that yielding to Hamas’s demands after executing hostages sends the wrong message: that terrorism pays off. If the goal is to ensure that terror doesn’t lead to greater demands, then refusing to cave in is essential. Netanyahu’s call for “maximum pressure on Hamas” is not just rhetoric; it’s imperative for eliminating the threats that terrify Israelis and put Americans at risk. In contrast, Biden’s clueless approach only serves to prolong the cycle of violence and instability in the region, allowing the terrorists to feast on the chaos.
