Joe Biden’s exclusion from prosecution in the recent classified documents case led by Robert Hur is a glaring example of how the political establishment operates with an apparent double standard. Biden’s defenders lean heavily on the idea of “executive privilege” to justify keeping audio recordings under wraps, as if the American public isn’t smart enough to decipher what the actual audio would reveal. The transcript of Biden’s responses isn’t sufficient; it’s the sound of his own voice that could unearth the true implications of his statements. One can easily assume those recordings, if released, might invoke a chorus of concerned gasps from within the Democratic Party.
In what has become a rather absurd saga, Biden was further entangled in controversy when he managed to create what can only be described as a verbal disaster during a recent speech. Such attempts to perform a linguistic sleight of hand are comical and undermine the Democratic narrative. While Biden may have meant to reference a particular individual, the chaos he unleashed with his careless words paints a very different picture.
Biden’s handlers must have been mortified as he unwittingly painted millions of Americans—his fellow citizens—as “garbage.” It’s hard to imagine how they thought they could clean up this particular mess, especially under the spotlight of a media machine eager to expose any misstep. The aftermath saw White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre working overtime to defend Biden’s remarks, yet her explanations only dug the hole deeper. Notably, her assertion that Biden only meant to refer to “hateful rhetoric” exhibited by Trump supporters fails to hold water when looking at the actual context of what was said.
The sheer desperation displayed in the White House communications suggests that even they understand the implications of Biden’s words. Anyone attempting to twist the narrative using the “magic, mystery apostrophe” gambit is not just missing the point—they’re actively insulting the intelligence of the American people. The video footage sits out there in the open for everyone to see, rendering any absurd defenses moot.
