The ongoing catastrophe of illegal immigration at the southern border shows no signs of stopping. False asylum claims are piling up, yet the Biden administration seems more interested in finding creative ways to house the influx of illegal immigrants rather than addressing the root of the problem and sending them back to their home countries where they belong.
In yet another mind-boggling proposal, the Department of Homeland Security is now considering housing illegal immigrants at airports. Yes, you heard that right. Airports, the very places built for commerce and transportation, might soon become temporary shelters for unvetted and undocumented migrants. This is a prime example of the Biden administration’s misguided priorities.

Republican members of the House Subcommittee on Aviation are rightly outraged by this absurd plan. They have sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, expressing their vehement opposition to turning our airports into migrant camps. They argue that airports should not be used as housing for illegal immigrants, and they call on the administration to enforce public airport grant assurances and reject this ill-conceived proposal.
It’s not just the Republican lawmakers who are concerned. Communities surrounding the airports mentioned in the DHS proposal, like airports in New York and New Jersey, fear the implications of turning their airports into makeshift migrant camps. Already, portions of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport have been converted into shelters for hundreds of migrants. This transformation not only raises security risks but also puts a strain on passenger air service and sensitive military facilities.
Meanwhile, Democratic mayors and governors are pleading with the Biden administration for assistance. City hotels, especially in New York, have been completely overwhelmed by the influx of illegal immigrants. Instead of addressing the root causes of this crisis and finding effective solutions, the Biden administration is exacerbating the problem by looking for new places to house tens-of-thousands of new arrivals.
This situation is a clear example of the Biden administration’s failure to secure the border and handle the consequences of its own failed policies. Turning airports into migrant camps is not a solution; it’s a band-aid on a gaping wound. It’s time for the administration to prioritize the safety and security of American citizens and work towards a real solution for the illegal immigration crisis.
