The White House is set to hold a press briefing today, led by press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Council spokesman John Kirby. This briefing comes in the wake of President Joe Biden’s recent comments about calling for a “pause” in the Israel-Hamas war to allow for the release of prisoners in Gaza. Biden made these remarks during a speech in Minnesota, where he was confronted by pro-Palestinian protestors.

It’s always interesting to see how Biden responds to pressure from those on the left, especially when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It seems like he wants to appease everyone and avoid taking a strong stance. But I have to wonder, what message does that send to our allies and enemies around the world? It’s important to stand by our friends, like Israel, and not waver in the face of those who seek to destroy them.
In addition to the press briefing, Biden is also scheduled to meet with the presidents of Chile and the Dominican Republic today. I hope these meetings are focused on strengthening our relationships with these countries and advancing our shared values, instead of being overshadowed by Biden’s weak approach to foreign policy. We need a leader who will prioritize America’s interests and defend our allies, not one who wavers in the face of pressure.
