Big Pharma Strikes Again: Suing Louisiana for Preventing Price Gouging
It comes as no surprise that Big Pharma is once again showing their true colors. This time, they are taking legal action against Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry for daring to enforce federal and state laws that prohibit drug companies from overcharging for medications.
AbbVie, one of the pharmaceutical giants, filed a lawsuit against the state, challenging the Defending Affordable Prescription Drug Costs statute. It’s worth noting that just recently, multiple Pharma companies were caught red-handed and forced by the government to provide refunds for overcharging contract pharmacies and hospitals. You would think that they learned their lesson, but apparently not.
1/2 Strangely, we can't seem to find many of @TheDemocrats who are outraged that rural communities with little access to healthcare are being robbed blind by pharmaceutical companies looking to maximize profits. https://t.co/HDvnlNHV1g

The audacity of these companies is astounding. While they are being forced to issue refunds for their past overcharging, they are now suing Louisiana to avoid offering the required discounts altogether. Their argument? They claim that a Louisiana law passed in June violates the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause. In reality, they are just trying to protect their exorbitant profits by undermining a program that supports affordable medication for rural and working-class Americans.
It’s clear that these pharmaceutical companies care more about their profit margins than the well-being of the people they are supposed to serve. And where are the Democrats who claim to champion the working class? Nowhere to be found, it seems. They are conspicuously silent as rural communities suffer from price gouging and limited access to healthcare.
It’s time for the American people to wake up to the greed and corruption of Big Pharma. These companies are not looking out for our best interests; they are only interested in lining their own pockets. Louisiana should be commended for standing up to their predatory practices, and other states should follow suit. It’s time to put an end to the price gouging and ensure affordable medication for all Americans.
