Bill Maher had an unexpected guest on his HBO show recently, and the situation is a clear indicator of just how bonkers things have gotten on college campuses. Ten years ago, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression president wouldn’t have even been considered for the show, but here we are, folks. Back in the day, sure, college campuses were definitely liberal hotbeds, but they weren’t overflowing with the kind of madness we’re seeing now. The woke culture and the crazy, anti-freedom rules being pushed by the Left didn’t exist back then. Can you believe it? And to top it all off, we didn’t have anti-Israel nuts spewing calls for the outright extermination of Jewish folks. The whole situation is like a recycling bin of neo-Nazi nonsense. And get this, a quarter of young Americans today actually think the Holocaust is a fairy tale. Can you say, “What in the world is going on here?”

During Maher’s interview with the FIRE president, they delved into the absolute lunacy happening on college campuses. They took aim at three college presidents who failed to condemn the calls for the genocide of the Jewish people, leaving Jewish students feeling unsafe as a result of the conflict in Gaza. It’s absolutely appalling.
Maher and his guest also discussed the fine line between free speech and straight-up insanity. They pointed out that even the chant “intifada” is considered protected speech. Really? We all know what that chant stands for, but somehow there’s some flexibility for those pro-terrorist types to try to justify it. Maher even conceded that the chant “from the river to the sea” has some serious “genocide vibes,” but he’s willing to cut some slack there. However, when it comes to yelling things like “by any means necessary” and “screw the Jews,” he’s drawing a line in the sand. If you replace “Jews” with any other group, you’d immediately see how unacceptable it is.
But wait, it gets even worse. They also talked about how all of this chanting could be considered a form of harassment and threats—which, by the way, are not protected forms of speech. The fact that Harvard, MIT, and UPenn couldn’t seem to grasp this distinction is deeply troubling. The three schools were even called out for essentially being on Team Hamas, sending a bunch of clueless students out into the world. Maher didn’t hold back, calling them a “bunch of dang fools.” And if that wasn’t enough, he also went on to blast the woke Left for attacking those who are trying to help people with disabilities. Yep, you heard that right. Apparently, even helping the blind can be viewed as a problem by these folks. It’s downright maddening.
So, how in the world did we get to this completely loony place where people who are actually making a positive impact in the world are being branded as villains? It’s just downright absurd, and it’s clear that even Bill Maher, a hardcore liberal, has had enough of this absolute lunacy.
Can you believe it? They’re actually condemning efforts to provide clean water to impoverished Africans because the guy doing the good deeds is white. This is the world the Left has brought us to, folks. It’s just plain nuts.
