President Trump wants to send the National Guard to Chicago just like he did in Washington DC. In just 12 days, Trump stopped all murders in our nation’s capital with decisive action. But Chicago’s liberal leaders are fighting against help that could save Black lives in their own city.
The numbers don’t lie and they’re heartbreaking. Chicago has seen 254 murders in just 233 days this year. About 80 percent of those victims are Black Americans whose lives matter more than political games. Yet Democratic leaders care more about opposing Trump than protecting their own people.
Blagojevich hit the nail on the head when he called this pure hypocrisy. If murders were happening in the rich neighborhoods where Pritzker and other white liberal elites live, they would beg for military help. Instead, they let working class Black families suffer while they play politics with people’s lives.
Chicago’s Mayor Johnson claims he has “grave concerns” about National Guard deployment. What about his concerns for the families burying their loved ones every single day. His priorities are completely backwards and show he cares more about opposing Trump than saving lives.
Illinois Democrats threaten to sue if Trump sends help to stop the killing. This is the same party that claims Black lives matter during election season. When it comes time to actually protect Black communities, they choose partisan politics over public safety.
Trump’s plan worked perfectly in Washington DC with zero murders in nearly two weeks. Chicago residents are begging for the same protection their tax dollars should provide. But their own elected officials would rather see more bloodshed than let Trump succeed.
This is exactly why Americans voted for Trump in overwhelming numbers. We’re tired of weak leaders who put politics before people and let our cities become war zones. It’s time for real leadership that puts American lives first, no matter what party is in charge.
