In an unexpected twist, Mark Fisher, one of the founders of Black Lives Matter Rhode Island, took center stage on "Fox and Friends" to share some uplifting news – his newfound support for former President Donald Trump. Fisher attributed his change in allegiance to what he perceives as the Democrats' double standards and hypocrisy, emphasizing, "We understand when someone’s for us and when someone is not, and it’s obvious that the Democratic Party is not for us."
Another pivotal factor influencing Fisher's decision to switch sides is his belief that Democratic policies undermine the black family. According to him, these policies "strike at the heart of the black family and the nuclear family." Recent polling data indicates a growing disillusionment among black voters with the Democratic Party. An NBC poll revealed that President Joe Biden's approval rating among black voters has dropped by nearly 20 points in 2023.

Fisher acknowledged the role of anti-Trump propaganda in shaping black voters' perceptions, stating, "A lot of people are misinformed." However, he contends that with better information, opinions of Trump would change because, as Fisher puts it, "personally, I love the man. I mean, how could you not like a real man? How could you not relate to someone like that?"
Fisher's endorsement of Trump is not a recent occurrence, as he has publicly supported Trump since at least earlier this month. Through various interviews, Fisher has expressed his belief that the Democratic Party doesn't value the black vote and deems their policies as racist. On "The Kim Iversen Show," Fisher remarked, "We’ve been used and abused for so long by that party."
