Critics are right to note the optics of celebrating a stock rally while thousands are told they no longer have work—this disconnect between shareholder delight and worker pain is a feature of today’s market incentives, not a bug.

This is not an isolated incident but part of a broader wave in tech where employers cite AI as the justification for sweeping cuts—tens of thousands of tech jobs have been eliminated in recent months as automation rhetoric rises. Conservatives should welcome innovation, but we must also recognize that unchecked technological disruption without robust support systems leaves workers vulnerable and regions hollowed out.
