Bolton Stripped Of Security And Secret Service Under Trump’s Presidency

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton recently found himself receiving a lesson in political consequences from none other than President Donald Trump. On the very same day that Trump made waves by yanking Bolton’s security clearance, the ex-adviser also had his Secret Service detail unceremoniously stripped. One can only imagine what Bolton was doing to warrant such a hasty dismissal—perhaps consulting a fortune teller on his next career move.

In the gossip mills of CNN, it was reported that Bolton himself confirmed he was left high and dry on security just hours after Trump assumed the presidency. Clearly, being a self-identified “in-conventional thinker” doesn’t score points in the Trump camp. The timing of these decisions raises eyebrows; was it all part of a plan to rid the administration of those seen as less than loyal? After all, who really needs a Secret Service detail when you’re busy whining on social media?

Bolton’s public reaction revealed a cocktail of disappointment and assumed enlightenment. He made it known that he saw Trump’s actions coming from a mile away, which may indicate he has perfect hindsight but poor foresight about political friendships. Despite throwing shade at Biden’s national security strategies, Bolton noted that the current sitting president extended protection to him—without realizing, of course, that this might be less a sign of goodwill and more of an unintentional joke from the left.

Interestingly, Bolton decided to drag up concerns surrounding his safety in light of past threats against him, linking it to a bizarre incident where Trump’s own assassination plot was foiled. Of course, it adds a certain flair to his argument but serves little in translating his point across. It also raised some eyebrows about how he managed to gain safety respect from a party he openly criticized, while simultaneously downplaying the very real threats against a former president. All in all, it was a performance worthy of a soap opera.

Looking back, it seems that Bolton has a knack for creating controversy wherever he goes. He even found himself cut off from security clearances due to the embarrassing content of his own memoir, a book he published not out of patriotic duty but as a cash grab after his tenure in the administration. Trump’s move to strip Bolton of the privileges associated with government intel was duly justified—the memoir, riddled with privileged information, clearly undermined national security and suggested Bolton’s priorities lay more with lining his pockets than protecting the nation.

Bolton’s resistance to acknowledge his faulty approach not only highlights the lengths individuals will go to protect their egos but also the precarious nature of loyalty in the world of politics. He ran the risk of being sidelined not just by Trump, but by anyone with a sense of allegiance to the GOP. Perhaps it’s high time for Bolton to reflect on how quickly the tables can turn in political warfare, all while remembering that when it comes to political protection, loyalty is a two-way street.
