In the wake of the impending Christmas chaos, the Democrats are all flustered about trying to push through some funding for Ukraine and Israel. However, the Republicans, led by the likes of Mitch McConnell and Speaker Mike Johnson, are not having any of it. They are putting their foot down and saying, “No way, Jose!” Senate Minority Whip John Thune made it crystal clear that there won’t be any votes happening this week, and he even emphasized that it’s a fact. The GOP senators are standing firm and demanding time to properly review any deal that may come up. So, it looks like action on the southern border, Ukraine, and Israel will have to wait until the new year. Bummer for the Democrats, right?
The southern border debacle has President Joe Biden’s approval ratings plummeting faster than Santa’s sleigh. His handling of immigration has been so atrocious that it’s now rated even worse than inflation, and that’s saying something. Even his fellow Democrats on the state and local level, like Mayor Eric Adams, Governor Katie Hobbs, and Governor Maura Healey, are taking matters into their own hands because the Biden administration is too busy twiddling their thumbs. And let’s not forget the mess in New York City, Massachusetts, and Arizona – it’s a disaster, folks!
New — John Thune, No. 2 Republican, told me there is “no way” a Senate vote could happen this week on immigration/emergency aid package. “That is a fact.”

But wait, it’s not just the GOP – even some Republicans who are in support of aiding Ukraine, such as Mitt Romney and Lindsey Graham, are acknowledging the dire state of the border under Biden’s watch. The Democrats, especially Chuck Schumer and the White House, are scurrying around with a sense of urgency, trying to make things happen before the holidays. Schumer even admitted that it’s going to take some time to fix this border mess. Well, duh! Maybe they should have thought about that before dragging their feet for so long.
It’s not the first time the Biden White House has played this dawdling game, though. Remember when Speaker Kevin McCarthy was practically begging them to hash out negotiations on the debt limit? It took a whole lot of arm-twisting from the Democrats before Biden finally decided to show some interest. It’s like they’re stuck on repeat or something! Speaker Johnson is not having any of it and is calling out the Biden administration for their lackadaisical approach to securing the border. He’s been telling them from day one that the border needs to be sorted out before anything else, but they just can’t seem to get it through their heads. Bless their hearts!
