Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, is facing some major changes in response to a controversial marketing campaign. The company has announced that it will be laying off about 350 employees, mostly from corporate positions. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Why should I care about some company laying off a handful of people?” Well, my friend, let me tell you why this is important.

You see, this whole mess started when Bud Light decided to team up with a transgender influencer for their marketing campaign. And let’s just say, it didn’t go over too well. The backlash was so severe that Bud Light actually lost its spot as America’s top beer to Modelo Especial. Ouch. But you know what’s even worse?
The layoffs are only the beginning of Bud Light’s troubles. Their declining sales have also led to production cuts at key partners, like the Ardagh Group, a glass bottle maker. They had to close two plants, resulting in the loss of 645 jobs. And it’s not just the employees and partners who are feeling the pain.
