Campus Chaos Erupts as Christian Student Attacked for Writing Bible Verses

A Colorado State University student says he was spat on and nearly assaulted while writing Bible verses in sidewalk chalk at a campus demonstration, a disturbing episode that should alarm every American who cares about free speech and religious liberty. Nineteen-year-old Blake Jones, a Catholic and member of the Turning Point USA chapter, reports that what began as peaceful chalking on Nov. 19, 2025 ended with threats, profanity and physical intimidation.

The incident unfolded in the Lory Student Center Plaza during a protest organized by Students for Justice in Palestine, the Young Democratic Socialists of America and other left-leaning groups, according to local campus reporting. Colorado State’s own policies long permitted chalking on the plaza, which makes the harassment not only morally wrong but a defiance of basic campus rules meant to protect expression.

Witnesses and multiple reports say that Christian messages were deliberately altered by protesters — for example, phrases like “abortion is murder” were changed to the opposite, and even a chalked cross was overwritten with a depiction some described as a transgender Jesus. This wasn’t debate; it was deliberate mockery aimed at silencing and humiliating students who hold traditional beliefs.

Jones recounts being confronted while wearing a red MAGA hat, being verbally abused, and ultimately spat on after a student charged him with fists raised; another student stepped in to prevent a punch. These are not the actions of people willing to “agree to disagree”; they are the actions of a campus culture that rewards intimidation and punishes those who dare disagree with progressive orthodoxy.

After reporting the assault, Jones says campus police took about 25 minutes to arrive and that several nearby security cameras were reportedly not functioning, raising troubling questions about accountability and transparency at the university. When cameras conveniently fail and response times lag, conservatives and parents are justified in asking whether administrators are protecting students or protecting a political narrative.

This episode is not an isolated skirmish over sidewalk chalk — it’s a symptom of a larger rot on our campuses where Christian and conservative students are increasingly treated as a public nuisance rather than as citizens with protected rights. Universities are supposed to be marketplaces of ideas, not ideological playgrounds where one faction enforces its views through mob tactics and mockery.

Lawmakers, parents, and trustees must stop pretending these incidents are mere “student conflicts” and start demanding accountability: functioning security infrastructure, impartial investigations, and real consequences for students who convert disagreement into harassment. If universities won’t defend religious expression and basic civility, state legislatures and conservative donors should withdraw support until changes are made.

Finally, honor the courage of students like Blake Jones who refuse to be silenced. Conservatives must double down on defending the right to speak, to worship, and to teach our children that faith and freedom go hand in hand — and we must do it loudly, politically, and without apology.
