Former presidential candidate Ben Carson has officially thrown his support behind former President Donald Trump for a second term in the White House. Carson made his endorsement during a rally with the Trump campaign in Sioux City, Iowa over the weekend. Speaking to a room full of evangelical Republican caucus voters, Carson assured the crowd that Trump would govern in accordance with their beliefs. The announcement was met with thunderous applause from the audience.

Carson also shared a famous story about Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. When asked what form of government the country would have, Franklin reportedly replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Carson stressed that in order to preserve the Republic, Americans should re-elect Trump as president.
In 2016, Carson gained attention as a presidential candidate while running against Trump for the Republican nomination. Although he briefly rose to second place in the polls after a strong performance in the first GOP debate, Carson’s campaign ultimately faltered. After Trump’s election victory, Carson was appointed as the nation’s top official for urban and housing affairs.
During his Iowa speech, Trump made it clear that he is determined to secure a first-place finish in the state’s upcoming caucus. He expressed confidence in his campaign’s lead and criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of foreign relations. Trump cited incidents such as the attack on Israel and the situation in Ukraine as examples of what he believes could have been avoided if he were still in office.
In a surprise move, President Trump announced that he would be skipping the third GOP debate, which is scheduled to take place in Miami on November 8th. The decision raised eyebrows, but it demonstrates Trump’s confidence in his campaign’s progress and his desire to focus on other campaign activities.
