The interview is set to air on October 8 but features only Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris due to Trump’s absence. Trump’s team vehemently denied that any agreement was ever solidified, pointing to CBS’s notorious reputation for spinning stories that favor one side of the political spectrum. Apparently, the network’s statement arrived just in time to serve up a free PR boost for the Harris campaign as she gears up for what many would dub a less-than-stellar performance in the debate circuit.

In a statement dripping with skepticism, Trump’s campaign representative stated that CBS “begged” for an interview. And let’s not forget the little hiccup known as Hunter Biden’s laptop saga, which CBS once brushed off as Russian disinformation. You’d think they’d be a little more hesitant to ask for Trump’s time, but apparently not. Who wouldn’t want to dance with a network that insists on “fact-checking” during interviews, which inevitably serves to skew the conversation?
Trump, not one to back down, has made it clear that an apology from CBS would go a long way in making him reconsider participating in future interviews. After what happened in 2020, it’s understandable that he’d want the network to admit it was wrong. The laptop’s authenticity has since been verified by the FBI, making CBS’s insistence that the story was fabricated look downright foolish.
The timing of CBS’s claims raises a few eyebrows and delivers a hearty dose of skepticism that voters can chew on. Right before a debate featuring Democrat candidates, CBS likely thought it’d sprinkle some controversy into the mix, stirring the pot just enough to give their party a little nudge. With moderators pretending to control the narrative by muting candidates and steering the conversation—especially when discussing controversial topics like illegal immigration—it’s no wonder many voters are rolling their eyes. If this is journalism, it’s hard to imagine what actual reporting looks like. One thing is clear: Americans are becoming increasingly aware of the media’s tendency to play favorites, and the fallout might just surprise them during the polls.
